St Aidan’s High School 60th Anniversary

That the Parliament recognises the 60th anniversary of St Aidan’s High School, Wishaw; understands that the St Aidan’s High mission is "seeking the best as we grow in faith and learning", and that the school values, which include equality, respect, inclusion, justice, forgiveness, compassion and wisdom, were designed by pupils, staff and parents; considers that St Aidan’s High School has a long and proud reputation within the local communities of Wishaw, Newmains, Shotts, Carluke and Lanark, and that it provides education of the highest quality for all students in the school community in order to meet their educational, personal and spiritual needs, and to prepare them to make an effective contribution to society in their present and future lives; further considers that St Aidan’s has a varied curriculum on offer, inside and outside the classroom, in order to meet the purposes of the Curriculum for Excellence in enabling young people to become Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens; acknowledges that St Aidan’s High School is an avid fundraiser for local and national charities, and understands that it has recently participated in sponsored climbs up Ben Nevis and Tinto Hill in aid of St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie; notes that St Aidan’s High School hosts and participates in health fayres, science fayres and dance competitions, such as the United Dance Organisation World Championships, which bring together talent from across the school community; understands that, in 2023, St Aidan’s took part in Zero Waste Day and marked the occasion with a book swap, litter picking, and encouraging recycling, as well as usage of reusable packaging and of sustainable and zero waste beauty products, thus, it considers, playing its part in tackling the climate emergency; thanks all past and present staff for their service to St Aidan’s High School, and wishes the school community all the best for the future.
