Jack’s Alt-Stays, Millport, Crowned Best Self Catering Accommodation Experience in the West of Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Jack’s Alt-Stays in Millport, Isle of Cumbrae, on receiving the Best Self Catering Accommodation Experience Award at the West of Scotland Thistle Awards, held at the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow on 28 September 2023; notes that the Scottish Thistle Awards celebrate the very best of the tourism and events industry, which is worth £11.5 billion to the Scottish economy annually; recognises that the year 2023 saw more than 600 entries submitted, including almost 1,200 nominations from members of the public; is aware that the triumphant Jack’s Alt-Stays was only launched nine months prior by cousins Daniel Jack and Adam Jack, who share a love for adventure, unique experiences, and the environment; acknowledges that the “glamping” accommodations offer an immersive in-cabin sensory experience, powered by solar energy and equipped with a wood-fired hot tub; is aware that the judges praised the "quirky and imaginative" accommodation provider for its strong commitment to sustainability issues; notes that Daniel and Adam credited their hardworking team for the win, which will serve as a big motivation to continue creating amazing experiences at their unique cabins; understands that, as a West of Scotland winner, Jack's Alt-Stays is now invited to the national final in December, where an overall winner will be announced for each category, and wishes it continuing success for the months and years ahead.
