Wairds Park, Johnshaven, Celebrates 100th Anniversary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Wairds Park in Johnshaven on celebrating its centenary year since the land was gifted to the Parish of Benholm and Johnshaven in 1923; notes that 2023 marks the 100th year since the Park Committee of 15 volunteers was given the responsibility of promoting the wellbeing of the residents of the parish by providing facilities for recreation and an area to foster community spirit; recognises that the park has enjoyed significant growth since then and now serves as a modern camping and caravan site, which also offers space for both indoor and outdoor recreational activities; acknowledges that Wairds Park provides these much valued facilities to all members of the local community, as well as visitors to the area, and hopes that the local community continues to play, socialise and enjoy the park for many years to come.
