The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the official opening of the new annex building at the historic Johnshaven Village Hall; understands that the refurbishment, which features accessible toilets as well as an upstairs multipurpose room, was undertaken by local developer, Fotheringham Homes, which both built and financed the project for the benefit of the local community; notes that Michael Fotheringham was on hand to cut the ribbon and celebrate with his team from Fotheringham Homes, along with architects Inspired Design & Development Ltd, and the local community, to toast the new opportunities that it considers will now be available for the village hall; acknowledges what it sees as the hugely significant role that the Johnshaven Village Hall plays in providing activities, including for groups and clubs such as the Guides, bowling, bridge and the Catch Up Café, while also organising great events from tea dances and ceilidhs to band nights, pantomimes and live theatre; notes that the Village Hall will open its doors once again to the local community on 11 November 2023, which will see the celebrations continue into the evening with a ceilidh; further notes that the Johnshaven Village Hall is approaching its 150th anniversary, and that the local community will now be able to celebrate its anniversary in style; applauds the efforts of everyone involved in the refurbishment project, and praises Fotheringham Homes for what it sees as its wonderful generosity in creating a space for all to enjoy for many years to come.
