Community Spirit Burning Bright in Buckhaven
The motion
That the Parliament commends the community spirit, determination and generosity of Buckhaven and Denbeath residents; understands that following an announcement on social media from the local Community Council that the 2023 Bonfire event was being cancelled, the local community immediately rallied to the cause and raised almost £7,000 in under 24 hours; believes that the popular annual event attracts between 6,000 and 7,000 people but looked like it would have to be cancelled after the funding application was turned down by Fife Council; praises what it sees as the immediate and overwhelming response from the local community and their willingness and desire to play their part in making sure the event could go ahead, and wishes everyone a safe and fun evening.
