The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Gordon Schools Care Group and Jane Craigie, in Huntly, on winning the Community Spirit Award in the Inspiring Aberdeenshire Awards 2023; recognises that the Gordon Schools Care Group was created to offer care experienced young people the support and space needed to use their voices and enjoy their autonomy; notes that, in the two years since the group was formed, the Care Group has connected with the local community in a variety of ways, including by visiting the local care home and producing exhibitions that showcase Aberdeenshire’s natural beauty; further notes that joint winner, Jane Craigie, started the Rural Youth Project in 2018 to help young people connect with rural areas and share their ideas, energy and services to benefit rural Aberdeenshire; commends Jane for what it sees as the impact that she has personally made to support well over 1,000 young people in pursuit of this goal, and wishes both winners success in their future efforts to enrich the Huntly community.
