Falkirk Council's Libraries for Wellbeing Project Wins COSLA Excellence Chairperson’s Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates all involved at Falkirk Council’s Libraries for Wellbeing project on winning the prestigious Chairperson’s Award at the COSLA Excellence Awards 2023, which were held on 28 September 2023 at Crieff Hydro, Perthshire; understands that these awards aim to celebrate the very best of Scottish local government and received over 200 nominations across nine awards categories; further understands that Falkirk Council received the most shortlisted nominations, being finalists in four categories, and going on to win two awards on the night; recognises that the Libraries for Wellbeing project has included regular events and activity across the Falkirk Council area, and represents what it sees as exemplary efforts to tackle inequalities, social isolation and improve health and wellbeing across communities; commends the further work of Falkirk Council library service in widening the appeal and enhancing the place of libraries within communities through its “Libraries are for Everyone” events, bringing, it understands, new and exciting opportunities for all residents to see libraries in a new light, across interest groups and generations; congratulates all involved in the Libraries for Wellbeing Project in receiving the COSLA Excellence, Chairperson’s Award 2023, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
