"Women and Workplace Struggles" and "Women and Scottish Railway History"
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Open University (OU) in Scotland on its launch of two new OpenLearn collections, in partnership with Scottish Union Learning, entitled "Women and Workplace Struggles" and "Women and Scottish Railway History"; notes that this aims to highlight what it sees as the often-hidden struggles in the workplace; understands that the first collection features articles gathered from trade union members, covering either the lived experience of the author, a particular work or political interest or a personal role within a strike or dispute, over 120 years; further understands that the second collection, jointly published with National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) in Scotland, focuses on what it sees as the often-hidden role of women in Scottish railway history, and that it was created through a series of interactive research and writing workshops; welcomes these additions to the archives celebrating the achievements of and challenges faced by women in the workplace across decades and industries; understands that these collections are freely available to anyone interested to view on OpenLearn, and wishes everyone involved with both of these projects all the very best for the future.
