The motion

That the Parliament welcomes Leuchie House’s decision to rename its accessible self-catering cottage in Dirleton to Doddie Weir House; understands that the cottage has been renamed in honour of Doddie Weir who was a Scottish rugby union player and British Lion, who died in November 2022 after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in 2017; further understands that Leuchie House is a charity that provides respite care for those with neurological conditions, such as MND or multiple sclerosis; recognises that funding for the unit was supported by a substantial donation from the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which was established by Doddie Weir in 2017, and thanks the Foundation for supporting Leuchie House to provide support for those with neurological conditions so that they can enjoy a holiday with their loved ones in a safe and accessible space.
