Laggan Wins Prestigious Helping It Happen Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Duncan McConchie Laggan on winning the Tourism and Visitor Management Award at the Helping It Happen awards, organised by Scottish Land and Estates; understands that the awards are designed to recognise publicly those often unsung heroes in rural Scotland who work tirelessly on real-life action on climate change, education about the outdoors, and on promoting affordable rural housing; notes that Duncan is chief executive of Laggan, which, it considers, is a rural destination of excellence within tourism, hospitality and sustainability; understands that, together with his wife Vicki, he has transformed the family farm over the last six years with the creation of on-site accommodation, GG’s Yard wedding and conference venue, and Gather, their hillside kitchen-bistro; notes that, most recently, they have reopened The Murray Arms, in Gatehouse of Fleet, as a luxury bed and breakfast, and wishes the business continued success in future ventures in south west Scotland.
