Congratulating Professor Craig Clark on Winning the Strathclyde Chancellor’s Medal

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Professor Craig Clark, Professor of Practice for Space at the University of Strathclyde, on winning the Strathclyde Chancellor’s Medal; recognises that the Chancellor’s Medal was established in 2014 to mark the 50th anniversary of Strathclyde receiving its Royal Charter and is presented to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the University of Strathclyde, or to public life nationally and internationally, and who represent Strathclyde’s values; understands that Professor Clark is a visionary space engineer and entrepreneur renowned for his pioneering work in commercialising small satellites; further understands that, in 2005, Professor Clark founded Clyde Space Ltd, Glasgow’s first space company; understands that, in July 2014, Clyde Space launched UKube-1, Scotland’s first satellite, and received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2017; acknowledges that Professor Clark was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2013, is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Institution of Engineers in Scotland, and that he has also been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Glasgow and is an inductee of the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame, and commends Professor Clark for what it sees as his visionary work and for winning this award.
