Launch of New National HIV Anti-stigma Campaign

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the new national HIV anti-stigma campaign, which, it understands, is led by Terrence Higgins Trust and funded by the Scottish Government; believes that, 40 years after the first diagnoses of HIV in Scotland, HIV stigma remains an issue and that this can act as a barrier to testing, treatment and care; agrees with the message of the campaign that, in Scotland, stigma is more harmful than HIV; welcomes what it sees as the progress made in combatting HIV transmission and understands that, if on the right treatment, a person living with HIV in Scotland today can live a long, happy and healthy life and cannot pass the virus on to others, and commends the work of Terrence Higgins Trust and partners for the work that they do to support those living with HIV in Scotland and to amplify their voices.
