Great Western Community Trust

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Great Western Community Trust on being awarded £425,154 from the Scottish Land Trust to help purchase and manage Holburn West Church in the west end of Aberdeen, which was due to close; recognises that the Trust has worked closely with Ashley and Broomhill Community Council and Queens Cross Community Council; notes that the Scottish Land Trust is funded by the Scottish Government and is delivered in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund and Highlands and Islands Enterprise; understands that securing this funding will trigger a further grant of £250,000 from Aberdeen City Council; welcomes plans to transform the church into a local community centre, retaining the existing classes, clubs and services already operating, and providing space for new activities and a safe space for all in the community, and wishes the Trust well in its endeavours.
