The motion

That the Parliament commends the Edrington employees who took part in the “Ride ‘n’ Stride” fundraising effort, raising £327,000 for good causes; notes that 73 cyclists and 96 walkers took part in the challenge over two days; understands that the money raised will be split evenly between the Glasgow refugee charity, Refuweegee, and the Orkney Blide Trust; considers that the Blide Trust is Orkney’s foremost mental health support charity, providing a wide range of support services for those experiencing mental ill health; understands that the Blide Trust was nominated by workers at the Edrington-owned Highland Park distillery, and that one of the cyclists, Nick Lovick, is a Blide Trust member; thanks everyone who donated to the fundraising effort, and especially Edrington for triple-matching all donations, and believes that the money raised will make a real difference in helping to enhance much-needed mental health support in Orkney.
