The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Bo’ness Town Trust Association on being awarded National Lottery Heritage Funding of £21,000 towards its new project, Without Fear Again - World War Two Stories related to the Bo’ness War Memorial; recognises the success of the trust’s previous First World War project, Without Fear – World War One Stories of the Men on the Bo’ness War Memorial, which, it understands, the group intend to expand upon with this new funding; believes that this support from the National Lottery will be used to broaden community understanding of the sacrifice made by the men of the town; understands that there are 117 men named on the war memorial who died in, or following, active service within the Second World War and that the trust’s goal is to honour their sacrifice by ensuring that the soldiers’ legacy continues to be recognised and acknowledged within the local community; further understands that three local amateur researchers, Robert Jardine, Richard Hannah and Alan Gow, who were appointed by the trust, will conduct the project delving into the stories of all named men, including family background, employment history, enlistment, service record and circumstances of death; understands that this project will involve members of the local community from all generations sharing individual stories and sacrifices; congratulates the Bo’ness Town Trust Association on securing what it sees as this vital funding to support its fantastic expanded project honouring the men of Bo’ness, and wishes it all the best with the new project.
