Recognising the Service of Gerry O’Hare after 28 Years at the Oncology Unit at the Vale of Leven Hospital

The motion

That the Parliament thanks Gerry O’Hare, on his retirement, for his long and dedicated care to the people of the Dumbarton, Vale of Leven, Helensburgh and Lomond communities in the Vale Oncology unit; recognises that the Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist has been devoted to providing the best possible treatment for his patients, while also pushing for better cancer care in general; thanks Gerry for raising the profile of the unit within the Vale of Leven Hospital, which has helped drive fundraising for the facility over the years; considers that Gerry displays professionalism and compassion when dealing with patients and, due to that, has become a popular and well-known figure at the hospital; understands that Gerry has used his expertise over the last decade to treat patients and train students to become highly qualified nurses in Palestine, and wishes him well in his retirement and in his future role at the Beatson West of Scotland Centre, where it believes he will continue his work to make outcomes better for people with cancer.
