Borders Older People's Campaigner Wins National Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Diana Findley, a tireless campaigner from the Scottish Borders, on winning Age Scotland’s national Jess Barrow Award for the work that she has done to improve the lives of older people in the Borders over the past 23 years; understands that the 83-year-old started her campaign work with Age Scotland, where she served as a board member for three years; notes that Diana also sits on the Older People’s Strategic Action Forum and the Scottish Borders Council Older People’s Planning Partnership, and is the chairwoman of the Scottish Older People’s assembly; understands that Diana co-founded the Borders Older People Forum, which aims to give older people a chance to share information about services, rights and entitlements that they might not be aware of otherwise; notes that Diana has also run Elder Voice in the Borders for the past 14 years; appreciates what it sees as the extraordinary work that Diana has done for the people of the Scottish Borders over the past 23 years; believes that this award is well-deserved, and wishes Diana the best with her campaigning for older people in the Borders in the years to come.
