AberNecessities' Believe in Magic Campaign
The motion
That the Parliament commends the Aberdeen-based charity, AberNecessities, following the launch of its Believe in Magic campaign; understands that approximately one in five children in Aberdeen and across Aberdeenshire live in poverty, and that Christmas can be a challenging and worrying time for families; recognises that, through this campaign, AberNecessities will provide children with personalised Christmas Eve boxes containing pyjamas, Christmas stories and gifts; notes AberNecessities' efforts to ensure that children have access to appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear so that they do not miss out on outdoor festive activities and events; welcomes the announcement that Ithaca Energy is the headline sponsor of the campaign and has made an initial £20,000 donation to the charity, with additional funds put towards the WarmUpWinter campaign to provide comfortable clothing bundles to children during the winter months; understands that AberNecessities aspires to benefit up to 3,000 children during the winter, and passes on its very best wishes to the charity, sponsors, staff and volunteers for every success in this campaign.
