Congratulations to Aberdeen’s Goan Community
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Goan Community Aberdeen on receiving a grant of £4,500 from the National Lottery Community Fund; understands that this funding will allow the group to host a programme of weekly activities, events and celebrations to mark Goan culture; notes that the group has previously organised events such as Children's Day celebrations, Festive and Christmas Jumper Day, a St Francis Xavier Feast in St Mary's Cathedral, as well as organising exercise classes and a monthly Mass in Konkani, the official language of Goa; believes that there are over 200 Goans estimated to be living in Aberdeen who can benefit from these events and services, and wishes the group well in its continued endeavours.
