The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Thomas Burns & Son of Bo’ness on its success at the Scottish Craft Butchers Awards 2023; understands that the awards were held on 13 September 2023 at Forth Valley College’s Stirling Campus, with 190 pies from throughout Scotland being tested for flavour, filling, appearance and appeal; recognises that the awards initially began in 1994 as the Make It With Meat Awards and that, despite their evolution, their ethos has remained to foster and encourage product innovation in Scotland's independent sector; notes that the awards are organised by the Scottish Craft Butchers (SCB) in co-operation with The Dalesman Group and John Scott Meat Ltd; understands that SCB is the consumer-facing branding for members of the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association (SFMTA); recognises that SFMTA is an organisation dedicated to representing and promoting the interests of Scottish butchers; notes that Thomas Burns & Son secured three diamond awards for its traditional steak pie, steak, haggis and peppercorn sauce pie, and Indian delights pie; understands that Thomas Burns & Son is a family business, now in its third generation after being originally established by Thomas Burns in 1954; congratulates Thomas Burns & Son on its three diamond awards, and wishes all staff of the establishment the best of luck in the future.
