Betty Glen Named Age Scotland’s Volunteer of the Year 2023

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Betty Glen from Polmont on being named Age Scotland’s Volunteer of the Year 2023; understands that Betty has been volunteering for 53 years and commenced her service at Polmont’s Age Concern; recognises that her first role was to help at a coffee evening, before regularly helping at social activities hosted by the group; notes that Betty went on to join the committee before serving as its president, a role that she held for 49 years; recognises that many fantastic initiatives benefitted from Betty’s stewardship, including a weekly whist and dominoes session, which evolved into a weekly club that maintains a membership of over 100 people; commends Betty on the years of service that she has given to the welfare of older people within her community, and congratulates her once again on being named Age Scotland’s Volunteer of the Year 2023.
