Marking the Month of Movember

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the annual event of Movember, which spans the month of November; acknowledges that the movement encourages men to grow moustaches to raise awareness of men’s mental health and other health issues, including testicular and prostate cancer; recognises that men die on average 4.2 years earlier than women in Scotland, and that many of these deaths are preventable; notes that life expectancy for both men and women in Scotland has declined for the last three years; understands that funds raised by those taking part in Movember support over 1,250 projects around the world, including the Growing2gether mentoring programme in Scotland, and commends those who are taking part in Movember to raise awareness of health inequalities.
