The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the River Cree Hatchery & Habitat Trust SCIO on being awarded £8,420 from the National Lottery Community Fund to carry out a range of activities, including habitat improvements, running an education programme for local primary school children, providing work experience placements, providing training on habitat and hatchery activities and volunteering opportunities for up to 40 volunteers; notes that the work of the Trust started in March 2010, with the aim to address the decline in the numbers of Atlantic salmon in the River Cree and its tributaries, and that today it not only continues to work to support the Atlantic salmon population in the river, but also carries out habitat restoration work; recognises what it sees as the importance of this work in ensuring that the salmon population recovers in the Cree, and the potential for this recovery to support the wider biodiversity of the Cree and its tributaries; wishes the charity and its volunteers well for their ongoing work, and thanks all of those who support its work through providing funding or in-kind support.
