Dumfries and Galloway Hard of Hearing Group Awarded £10,000 from Lottery Funds for Drop-in Clinics

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Dumfries and Galloway Hard of Hearing Group on receiving £10,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund to provide nine hearing aid care and maintenance drop-ins each month across Stewartry and Wigtownshire; notes that the drop-in sessions take place in Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbright, Newton Stewart, Wigtown, Whithorn and Stranraer at least once a month; understands that the drop-in clinics are run by trained volunteers who assist in re-tubing, cleaning and carrying out minor repairs on hearing aids, providing advice on maintaining hearing aids and signposting attendees to other services and equipment that may be helpful; notes that Dumfries and Galloway Hard of Hearing Group was founded in 2008 and that its services are provided across the region, and that it provides not only drop-in sessions but also home visits and care home visits; thanks all of those who volunteer their time to support the work of the Dumfries and Galloway Hard of Hearing Group, and wishes it well for its ongoing work.
