Bishopbriggs Teacher Named among Top 10 Educators in UK

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Bishopbriggs teacher, Patrick Walker, a constituent of Strathkelvin and Bearsden, on being recognised as one of the UK’s most inspiring educators; commends the Turnbull High School geography teacher for being among just 10 educators to feature in a new exhibition in London this month, entitled The Gallery of Greats, created by The Teaching Awards Trust charity to celebrate its 25th anniversary; notes that the Trust was set up in 1998 to highlight the positive role that teachers and school leaders play in society; understands that Patrick was selected for inclusion in the photographic exhibition for his ability to empower students in his school, by introducing sustainability initiatives, advanced courses and effective revision programmes, which boosted pupil achievement to make the geography department a top performer in East Dunbartonshire; celebrates what it sees as the valuable impact that teachers have on pupils and the innovations and enthusiasm that they bring to the classroom day in and day out, and wishes Patrick all the very best for the future.
