Professor Eyad Elyan Named Academic of the Year in National Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Professor Eyad Elyan of Robert Gordon Universityon being named Academic of the Year at the esteemed Innovate UK KnowledgeTransfer Partnership (KTP) Awards 2023; notes that he won the award for hisleading role in a KTP project with Aberdeen-based AISUS Offshore, which itunderstands has transformed the traditional method of assessing thestructural integrity of offshore assets to one that uses state-of-the-artmachine learning and deep learning methods to significantly enhance operations;notes what it sees as the vital role of Robert Gordon University and the Northof Scotland KTP Centre in supporting this project, which it considers to be anexample of their critical support of the business community; commendsProfessor Elyan for his exceptional skills and commitment in knowledgetransfer, leadership and mentoring, and wishes him every success in his futureprojects.
