The motion

That the Parliament commends Inverclyde Council on being awarded bronze accreditation for the Equally Safe at Work programme; understands that Equally Safe at Work is an innovative employer accreditation programme developed by Close the Gap, an organisation with expertise in Scotland’s women and the labour market, which supports employers in the public and third sector to develop gender-sensitive employment practices; believes that the programme enables employers to advance gender equality at work and prevent violence against women by better supporting those affected in the workplace; notes that, in order to receive accreditation, employers must demonstrate that they have met criteria across six standards, which align with women’s workplace equality, including leadership, data, flexible working, occupational segregation, workplace culture and violence against women; believes that Equally Safe at Work is an integral part of the local implementation of Equally Safe, which is Scotland’s national strategy to prevent and eradicate violence against women and girls, and hopes that other local authorities will follow suit.
