The motion

That the Parliament pays tribute to the charity, LEAP, which is based in Cambuslang, for being awarded Excellence in Quality in Befriending for the fourth time; notes that the Quality in Befriending Award was developed by Befriending Networks in consultation with other stakeholders in the field of befriending, and understands that it is the only award in the UK that is specifically tailored for befriending services; recognises that LEAP became the first older persons’ organisation to be granted the award in 2014, and that it has held it through three subsequent reviews; notes that LEAP serves more than 8,500 members and clients in communities across Lanarkshire; understands that LEAP currently has more than 100 befriender volunteers who, it believes, have given almost 3,500 hours of their time to provide companionship to local people, and believes that this award is testament to the commitment of the organisation and its staff and volunteers.
