Sandyford Nursery Gains its Seventh Eco-Schools Green Flag

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Sandyford Nursery, in the Glasgow Kelvin constituency, on gaining its seventh Eco-Schools Green Flag; recognises that a Green Flag award is a visible indication of a school’s commitment to Learning for Sustainability and is an internationally recognised accreditation for excellence in sustainable education; understands that Green Flag applications are based on the Seven Elements, which are eco committee, environmental review, action plan, measuring, linking to the curriculum, community and eco code, making up the core of all Eco-Schools programmes across the world; further understands that, during a Green Flag application, schools must choose to work on at least three topics, choosing from biodiversity, energy, food and the environment, global citizenship, litter and waste, water, climate action, transport, school grounds, or health and wellbeing, noting that climate action is at its core and, therefore, all applications must include at least three actions per topic, and commends Sandyford’s staff, children and parents on this wonderful achievement.
