Trossachs Search and Rescue Awarded The King's Award for Voluntary Service

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Trossachs Search and Rescue, a group of volunteers based in Callander, on being awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, which, it understands, is the highest award that a local voluntary group can receive in the UK, equivalent to an MBE; acknowledges that Trossachs Search and Rescue is one of 262 local charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups to receive the prestigious award in 2023, and has been recognised for the work of its 34 operational members, all of whom are volunteers who provide a comprehensive range of services, including water rescues, TEC responders, community CPR training, search and rescue, first responders, first aid and upkeep of public access defibrillators; understands that representatives of Trossachs Search and Rescue will receive the award crystal and certificate from the Lord-Lieutenant of Stirling and Falkirk, and that two volunteers will attend a garden party at Holyrood Palace in July 2024, along with the other recipients of this year's award; notes that this award is a fitting tribute to Trossachs Search and Rescue's founding member, Stuart Ballantyne, who sadly lost his life to COVID-19 in 2020, and believes that the honour of receiving this award will further motivate the team to ensure that his legacy continues and develops into the future.
