The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the two Western Isles voluntary organisations, SHARE and Long Term Conditions Hebrides (LTCH), which were awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service; notes that The King’s Award recognises outstanding work by local volunteer groups that benefits their communities; understands that the award represents the highest accolade that a local voluntary group can receive in the UK; further notes that SHARE operates the South Uist thrift shop and café in Daliburgh, which, it understands, is not only a hub of activity but has also distributed over £80,000 to other local causes; understands that LTCH provides support, advice and guidance to people living with long-term health conditions in Lewis and Harris, and believes that the awards are a well-deserved recognition of the excellent work carried out by voluntary organisations in the Western Isles, which contributes so much to community wellbeing.
