AberNecessities Receives The King’s Award for Voluntary Service

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Aberdeen Donside-based children’s charity, AberNecessities, which has recently been awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service; notes that AberNecessities was founded in 2019, providing disadvantaged families with essential and basic necessities, which, it believes, no child should go without; further notes that the charity provides items such as nappies, formula milk, clothing, toys and equipment for children from birth up to 18 years old; understands that, since its launch, the charity has distributed hundreds of thousands of items to families and children across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire; notes that The King’s Award, formerly known as The Queen’s Award, was first created in 2002 to mark Her Late Majesty The Queen’s Golden Jubilee, with the award being the highest award given to local voluntary groups and described as the equivalent of an MBE; commends the efforts of all those who work or volunteer for AberNecessities, and wishes them all the best for the future.
