AberNecessities Receives Electric Van Through Just Transition Participatory Budget Fund

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Aberdeen Donside constitutency-based children’s charity, AberNecessities, on successfully securing almost £40,000 worth of funding through the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund, which enables communities to democratically decide where investments should be made to aid the north east’s transition to net zero by 2045; notes that AberNecessities will use its funding to acquire a fully electric van for the delivery of essential items to disadvantaged families across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire; understands that the charity was selected to receive the funding after receiving over 19,000 votes from the public in recognition of how meaningful and impactful its work has been; further understands that AberNecessities expects to save at least £700 per month on fuel and vehicle leasing, which can now be better spent supporting families; commends all those involved with AberNecessities for their hard work, and wishes them all the best going forward.
