Cats and Their Stats (CATS) Report Scotland 2023
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the publication of Cats Protection’s Cats and Their Stats (CATS) Report Scotland 2023; notes that this is the fourth year that Cats Protection has commissioned and produced the CATS Report, which examines all things related to cat ownership, including owner attitudes, reasons for relinquishments, barriers to ownership, cat health and the effect of the cost of living crisis; believes that it is the most comprehensive survey of cat ownership in Scotland and the UK; understands that the report has made many key findings, including that there are 830,000 pet cats in Scotland, that 26% of them are not microchipped, and that there is a downward trend in people adopting their cats from a rescue or rehoming centre, and congratulates Cats Protection on producing this unique and informative publication on cat ownership in Scotland, which, it believes, helps inform cat welfare and supports cat owners to better understand their pets.
