Recognition of the Chapter House Museum Trust for Receiving The King's Award for Voluntary Service

That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the outstanding achievement of the Chapter House Museum Trust, based in Dunkeld, Perthshire, in receiving The King's Award for Voluntary Service; acknowledges that this is the highest accolade that a voluntary group can receive in the UK, equivalent to an MBE; notes with appreciation the Trust's establishment in 1994 by volunteer amateur historians, and what it considers to be its evolution beyond a museum and archive to provide diverse community opportunities, including work experience for young people through the Kickstart and Young Person’s Guarantee Schemes, a Young Archaeologist Club, and a Mid-Week Memories Club; commends its recent initiative to offer a Museum and Galleries Practice Apprenticeship to a graduate who began as a volunteer; notes the Trust's ambitious future plans for extending and redeveloping its premises to enhance visitor experiences and community engagement, and commends the dedication and hard work of all volunteers at the Trust, led by manager Ruth Brown, whose efforts, it believes, have significantly contributed to the local community of Dunkeld and Birnam.
