Kirkintilloch Business Improvement District (BID) is Launched
The motion
That the Parliament commends the work of the committee of the Kirkintilloch Business Improvement District (BID) in consulting with local businesses and undertaking robust planning, which, it understands, led to 81% of votes in favour of the resultant proposal; understands that co-chairs, Dr Jim Hopkins and Mr Robert Wilson, have worked tenaciously and tirelessly to listen to local traders and collate findings into a business plan with the aims of increasing town centre footfall, stimulating investment and raising the profile of Kirkintilloch as an attractive destination for events, shopping, services and leisure; applauds the plans to launch a website to host a local business directory, in addition to creating business opportunities to enhance the visitor experience, while taking steps to celebrate the town’s rich history and heritage, and wishes the people and traders of this great town, which is situated on the Forth and Clyde Canal, continued and increased enjoyment of the amenities in and around Kirkintilloch town centre as the BID team works towards realising the vision that was so demonstrably supported.
