Silver Swans Ballet Marks 10th Anniversary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Greenock’s Silver Swans ballet class on its 10th anniversary; understands that the class is aimed at older ladies and was launched by Elite Academy of Dance in 2013, making it the first in Scotland for the over-55s; further understands that the ballet class is just as popular now as it was when it was first launched by dance teacher, Julie Kavanagh; recognises that Julie has 30 pupils in the class and that, as well as being fun and social for the ladies, ballet is also a good form of exercise; believes that the success of Silver Swans serves is a reminder that it is never too late to learn something new, with the academy’s most senior Silver Swan being 82 years old, and wishes Julie all the best as she continues to share her love of ballet with women in Inverclyde.
