Golden Jubilee Successfully Completes Bowel Cancer Surgery on 200th Patient
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates staff at Golden Jubilee University National Hospital on performing robotic arm surgery on its 200th patient to help tackle bowel cancer; notes that the colorectal service at the hospital started in April 2021, with robotic procedures beginning in early 2022; further notes that Golden Jubilee Hospital supported NHS boards by carrying out urgent and critical-to-life treatment for cancer patients; understands that the service takes referrals from NHS boards all over Scotland to treat cancer and a range of other colon and bowel conditions; believes that, with an open procedure, patients would be expected to stay in hospital for seven to 10 days, but with robotic surgery, patients can be back at home in just three or four days, and wishes everyone at the hospital the best for all future surgeries.
