Congratulating the University of Strathclyde on Winning a Queen's Anniversary Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the University of Strathclyde on being awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education; understands that the University of Strathclyde won a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for excellence, innovation and entrepreneurship in photonics; further understands that the University of Strathclyde is the UK’s largest academic centre for translational research and education in photonics, and is home to an internationally recognised photonics ecosystem, which has been developed over more than three decades, including the UK’s first and only Fraunhofer Centre; notes that the Queen’s Anniversary Prize celebrates excellence, innovation and public benefit in work carried out by UK colleges and universities; further notes that the Queen’s Anniversary Prizes are the highest national honour awarded in UK further and higher education and are granted every two years, and commends the University of Strathclyde on winning a Queen's Anniversary Award.
