Shetland Nominees at the Scots Trad Music Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the nominees from Shetland shortlisted in the annual Scots Trad Music Awards 2023, following the news that four award categories have Shetland nominees; understands that singer-songwriter Arthur Nicholson has been nominated in the Citty Finlayson Scots Singer of the Year category, Jenna Reid is nominated for the Music Tutor of the Year Award, and that the Cullivoe Band is nominated for Scottish Dance Band of the Year; further understands that Cullivoe Band was first formed in the early 70s and has featured many Shetland musicians over the years; understands that Mhari McLeman is one of four nominees in the Traditional Music Enabler category, in recognition of her work over the last 30 years with the Shetland Folk Festival; believes that the Shetland nominations reflect Shetland’s strong traditional music scene, as well as the talent and hard work of the nominees, and wishes all finalists the best of luck at the awards ceremony, to be held in Dundee on 2 December 2023.
