Iconic Fountain Returns to Woodside
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the restoration of the Woodside fountain to its rightful place on the corner of Don Street and Great Northern Road in Aberdeen Donside; understands that the Woodside fountain was once a popular water spot for local horses and cattle, and later became the area’s placename, before the fountain was removed in the 1960s; notes that a replica of the fountain will be reinstalled to its rightful place as part of the Woodside Gateway Feature Project, a street design project looking to create a warm welcome to the neighbourhood through sculpture and greenery that reflects different aspects of Woodside; recognises the efforts of all involved, including Neil Copland and Charlene Kilpatrick, who worked in conjunction with the Woodside Community Council, the Fersands and Fountain Community Project, the Printfield Community Project, the Woodside Network and the residents group at Fountain Grange, to get the replica of the fountain included in the final design; thanks the community for its contribution, and looks forward to the project’s completion.
