The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Rosie Crighton, a health visitor, school nurse team leader and part-time operational lead nurse at NHS Grampian, on being awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse in November 2023; understands that Rosie undertook a nine-month development programme, run by the Queen’s Nursing Institute, in order to earn the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse; further understands that nurses are selected by employer nomination and undergo panel interviews to ascertain eligibility; notes that 24 community nurses and midwives were chosen to complete the Queen’s Nursing Development Programme in 2023 and that candidates were funded by charitable trusts to complete the programme; understands that there are now more than 150 contemporary Queen’s Nurses working across Scotland since the programme was restarted in 2017 after a long history dating back to the late 19th century, and wishes all 24 new Queen’s Nurses every success in the important and wide-ranging work that they do to support people in their communities.
