Get Active @ Northfield Wins Facility of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Sport Aberdeen team behind the Get Active @ Northfield leisure centre, for their hard work and professionalism, which helped them win Facility of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony, which was presented by the Scottish Leisure Network Group; understands that the Aberdeen Donside-based facility received a £4.8 million refurbishment and extension 12 months ago, which has since been well run by staff and popular amongst locals; further understands that since reopening, the facility has provided school swimming lessons to 628 pupils from across 16 schools, and that 100% of schools reported that pupils had improved in self-confidence, physical development, mental wellbeing and felt safer around water; commends all those responsible for what it sees as the successful refurbishment and high-quality services provided at the Get Active @ Northfield leisure centre, and wishes them all the best going forward.
