Scotstoun Primary School, School of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the parents of Scotstoun Primary School pupils on winning the School of the Year award at The Glasgow Times Community Champions Awards 2023, which were held at Glasgow City Chambers on 5 December 2023; notes the school's Café Culture Project, which brings parents together to cook, share recipes, stories, and boost language skills; further notes that The Glasgow Times Community Champion Awards have been rewarding locals who make Glasgow a better place to live, for 16 years; understands that the awards go right to the heart of the communities across the city, from north east, south, and north west, before bringing the area finalists together at the end of the year for an overall, city wide celebration; further understands that, so far, more than 1,000 Community Champions have been recognised across nine categories to ensure that local heroes of all types and backgrounds are identified; believes that the range of categories, paired with an area-to-area approach, gives the awards a unique ability to reach and reward those whose efforts may otherwise go unnoticed, and congratulates everyone involved at Scotstoun Primary School on this fantastic achievement.
