Orkney Folk Festival Declared Trad Event of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates all the organisers of the Orkney Folk Festival, which was awarded Event of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards; believes that in this, its 40th anniversary year, the award is a fitting tribute marking the importance and value of the Festival; understands that the Orkney Folk Festival was first held in 1983 and has since grown to become a major event in the folk calendar; believes that the festival has contributed significantly to the promotion of home-grown Orkney folk talent, as well as regularly attracting acts from across Scotland and indeed the world; commends all of those whose hard work has ensured the success of the festival, in particular its producer, Craig Corse, and wishes them the best of luck as they begin preparations for the 2024 festival.
