Borders Tourism Business Takes Home Top Prize at Thistle Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Rory and Vicki Steel of Ettrickbridge on winning the Best Bar or Pub prize at the Scottish Thistle Awards; understands that the co-owners only took over the Cross Keys Inn at the start of 2023, after receiving £81,000 from South of Scotland Enterprise, showing the remarkable achievement of winning a national award for their business, having opened less than 12 months prior; understands that this achievement came after the Cross Keys Inn won the same award in the South of Scotland ceremony in November; further understands that businesses in the South of Scotland picked up six awards in total at the ceremony in Glasgow, making it the best year so far for businesses across the region; wishes Rory and Vicki Steel the best for the year to come, and hopes that it is just as successful as the previous year.
