Riverside Youth Band Members are History Makers
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Riverside Youth Bank and its members on being crowned double Scottish champions at the recent Scottish Youth Brass Band championships; understands that the band from Inverclyde was crowned Scottish Youth Champion in the competition’s senior section, while its training band took home the title in the novice section; understands that this is the first time since 2018 that Riverside Youth Band had entered the event, and the first time in the organisation’s history that it had entered two bands in one year for the prestigious competition, which took place in Perth Concert Hall; recognises that both bands also received a Gold Award and, in a further boost, Riverside Youth Band will now receive an invite to compete in the European Youth Brass Band Championships, to be held in Norway in 2025; believes that these awards are testament to the work of Riverside Youth Band’s musical director, Mark Good, and its members, and the time that they put into practising and rehearsing, and wishes the band all the best as it prepares to represent Scotland in Europe.
