UK Gold Reserves and the Cost of Living Crisis

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that the value of gold has reportedly reached an all-time high price of £1,682 per troy ounce; remembers that the previous UK Labour administration, under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, sold around 12.7 million troy ounces of gold for approximately £2 billion, at a time when the market was at a 20-year low; understands that, today, the same amount of gold would be worth £21 billion, and believes that what it sees as this lost £19 billion would have gone a long way to help people during the current cost of living crisis.
