Temporary Closure of Neilston Post Office

That the Parliament understands that a Post Office branch situated in the centre of the village of Neilston, in East Renfrewshire, is facing temporary closure; further understands that, as a result of the resignation of the current postmaster, the Neilston branch will close on 13 January 2024 until the vacancy can be filled; considers that the potential temporary closure of this branch would be a huge loss for so many local residents of Neilston who use it; understands that residents would be able to use alternative branches in Barrhead and Auchenback, but believes, however, that this would be unsuitable and inconvenient, particularly for older members of the community, and believes that every option must be explored by the Post Office to ensure not only that the vacancy is permanently filled, but that a replacement service can be sourced and operated in the meantime.
