Happy Galashiels
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Galashiels on being named Scotland’s happiest place to live for the second year in a row; notes that Galashiels was ranked as the UK’s 15th happiest place overall in Rightmove’s Happy at Home index, which asked 26,000 people how they feel about where they live based on 13 happiness factors; understands that locations were ranked based on things like proximity to green spaces, local amenities and whether residents feel that there is a sense of belonging and community; pays credit to the people of Galashiels for making their town the warm, welcoming and community-focussed place that it is, and hopes that receiving this title will encourage people to visit Galashiels to take advantage of all that it has to offer.
